With summer coming to an end I’ve been thinking about what a fantastic summer I’ve had and everything I’ve done. One of the biggest achievements over summer has been completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh final expedition.
Just after my birthday in July I went to Dartmoor to do my Gold Duke of Edinburgh final expedition with some of my best friends from college! It was hard work but great fun. There were times when we all hated each other and times when we were so tired that we just fell about laughing at the stupidest of things. The weather was very unpredictable, one night it was absolutely freezing and I slept in all the clothes I had taken with me (which wasn’t loads as one thing you learn doing D of E is to only pack the bare essentials!). The next night it was boiling hot and we almost got trampled on by cows and horses which was pretty darn scary! Each time we got to the top of a hill (which was often) it was all worth it as the views were spectacular. Going without a shower, a toilet, clean water and many other everyday items for four days and four nights was most definitely worth it. I have my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award! Now how many people can say they have that?
If you’re ever looking for a supervisor for your Gold D of E or want to have some fun check out reach outdoors they are fantastic! Rachel was our supervisor for both our practice and final expeditions; she was so helpful and enthusiastic.
That’s it from me now, sorry that its a little later than usual but join me Sunday 5th for an update on the new products 🙂
Much love, Jess
